At the Comets we try to accommodate all registrations for U8-U10 age groups. Under 8’s-10’s play modified rules with modified numbers. Under 8’s play with 12 on field and a maximum of 4 on the interchange. Under 9’s play in teams of 15 per side with a maximum of 5 on the interchange.  Under 10’s play 18 per side with a maximum of 6 on the interchange. The objective here is to maximise game time and to play, as best as numbers allow, with school and friendship groups.

In the U11-U15 age groups teams are 18 per side with a maximum of 6 interchange. Generally registrations in these age groups will close upon receipt of 48 registrations per age group. If there is sufficient player registrations the Comets Committee will consider accommodating a third team in each of these age groups should there be enough interest.

The YJFL Age groups for 2018 are set out below.

Prompt registration will ensure your child does not miss out.

From Under 11 upwards the YJFL grades its competition and as a result our registered players are allocated into teams based upon a number of considerations. Firstly, players are placed in teams that best reflect their current playing ability, secondly we aim to maximise enjoyment and participation and, thirdly we aim to select teams broader than immediate school and friendship groups. This approach has found expression in our team allocation policy which is attached. By applying these considerations the Comets have created not only the most successful club in the YJFL in 2016 but also stronger connections for our players and parent to the community in which we all live. We are really proud of our team selection process and believe it to be a large reason for our success.
